Why join?

The IIA is a recognized property casualty industry leader advancing public policy positions on behalf of member companies. Our primary objective is to provide expert and timely service to member companies on insurance-related issues. We have expertise working with Illinois' political forces, special interest groups and media. We also strive to increase public understanding about the vital role insurance plays in people's everyday lives.

We are working hard to preserve Illinois' vibrant insurance marketplace - and there is strength in numbers.

Membership Levels offered by the IIA

The IIA provides many benefits to its members including industry information, legislative support, education, and networking opportunities.

Full membership is restricted to property, casualty or surety insurance companies licensed to do business in Illinois. All insurance companies are welcome, including stock, mutual, reciprocal, inter-insurer, or other forms of organizational structure.

Full members receive one vote on the IIA Board of Directors and are eligible to chair or participate on IIA committees.

Assessments are based on property and casualty direct written premiums posted by the Illinois Department of Insurance for the year closest to when membership is sought. For more assessment information, please contact the IIA at 217-789-1010.

Illinois Insurance Association bylaws define subscribers as trade associations, reinsurance companies, and other firms, entities and organizations that work with, support or provide value to the insurance industry, the corporation, or its members.

Subscribers may participate on (not chair) IIA committees but have no voting privileges. This class of membership has no seat on the IIA's Board of Directors.

  • $7,500 annually for trade associations
  • $5,000 annually for reinsurance companies, other organizations, firms and entities
